YOUNGSTERS in the North Yorkshire market town of Kirkbymoorside have persuaded the town council to provide better play facilities.
Several young people sent a letter to the council asking for a facelift of the Ryedale View play area and now questionnaires are being distributed to households.
Former mayor Nigel Richardson said: "The letter from the children made the council realise that something needs to be done with the playground. It only has some out-dated swings and a rubbish bin."
The children said they also want a kick-about area.
