COUNCIL bosses are celebrating after their authority took a top spot in a competition to find authorities that are making a difference.
Hambleton District Council took one of ten prizes in the awards, organised by Local Government Yorkshire and Humber.
Hambleton walked away with the trophy for efficiency and enterprise, beating off competition from four other councils and a fire authority.
It was also shortlisted for the people development and learning prize and Stillington councillor Christine Cookman was one of the finalists for the local champion category.
