EVENTS in a market town have been recorded for the latest in a series of video diaries.
Filmmaker Mike Porter, who has filmed in Richmond since 1960, has released his seventh Richmond Diary in video and DVD format.
Local people are recorded describing the events in which they have been involved - including the re-opening of Easby riverside footpath following restoration, the station project, the fight to stop Richmondshire District Council relocating its headquarters and the mayor's ball.
There is also footage of the Richmond Hilltoppers jazz band marching again after 30 years, the annual town meet and a farewell concert by the Normandy military band.
Celebrations to mark the 400th anniversary of Willance's Leap - when Robert Willance survived a 200ft fall from Whitcliffe Scar - are also recorded.
Mr Porter said: "I got a bit closer to the action than I intended when I fell over Willance's Leap while filming the reverse side of the new memorial stone erected by the mayor to commemorate the 400th anniversary."
He caught his foot in brambles and fell 12ft down the slope, straining shoulder muscles.
"After 400 years, Willance's Leap is now known by some local people as Porter's Plunge," he said.
A Richmond Diary Number 7 is available from Mills newsagents and Trinity Video, both in Richmond, at £12.99.
