A CHRISTMAS pudding who turned into a Christmas cracker is to open a slimming class in the new year.

Christine Spencer, from Leyburn, has lost 2.5 stones with Slimming World and has become a consultant for the company.

Three years ago, she was a size 20 in spite of having taught teenagers about healthy eating.

She gained weight as joint owner of a restaurant, which meant long hours and unhealthy snacks.

"I had always been a size 14 but, with my change in eating habits, I expanded to a size 20," said Mrs Spencer, who is now a size 16 and well on the way to her target weight.

"It has made me feel so much better both physically and mentally. I have also regained lost energy and can do a regular four-mile walk without feeling the strain."

Her class at Thornborough Hall, Leyburn, will be held every Monday from January 8, at 6.30pm.
