A WORKSHOP has been held to promote and inspire pupils' creativity in textile and fashion design.

The idea was to give young people at Framwellgate School, in Durham, an insight into the fashion industry and running their own business.

Students worked with designer Anna Summerson, who has a small business and studio in Durham called Embelliss, which specialises in custom-made embellished clothing.

She demonstrated techniques, showed samples of her clothing range and answered questions on her career path.

The pupils then created their own T-shirt and sample designs.

Teacher Natalie Sadler felt it was important for pupils to have the opportunity to learn new techniques to enhance their art work and get careers advice

Katie Robinson, a year 12 art and design student, said: "I found the workshop inspirational and fascinating. I felt I benefited from talking to a professional about the fashion industry and the routes I could take in the future."
