DETECTIVES investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a stream made an arrest yesterday.
A 32-year-old local man was last night being interviewed in connection with the death of Darryl Craig, 44, who lived in Endcliff Crescent, Scarborough.
Police want to speak to anyone who knew Mr Craig, who was also known as Paul Darryl Duffy, to help build a picture of his lifestyle.
A 32-year-old woman has already been arrested and remains on bail pending inquiries.
The plea for friends, acquaintances and neighbours of Mr Craig to come forward followed a press conference at Scarborough police station on Saturday.
Mr Craig's body was found in a stream that runs through Peasholm Glen to Peasholm Lake by a woman walking her dog at 8.30am on Thursday.
He wore blue tracksuit bottoms and dark trainers, but was unclothed from the waist up and lying face-down in 12in of water.
The body had severe bruising to the face and arms, and a post-mortem examination found he had drowned.
A police spokesman said: "The nature of our investigation is to establish how Mr Craig came to be in that stream and the circumstances leading up to his death.
"We would like to hear from anyone who knew Mr Craig to establish the detail around his lifestyle."
The last confirmed sighting of Mr Craig was last Monday, and police want to speak to anyone who saw him since.
They also want to hear from anyone who was in the Peasholm area between 2pm on Wednesday and 8.30am on Thursday. People can call 01609-768111.
l A woman found dead in a flat in New Queen Street, Scarborough, on Thursday has not yet been formally identified.
A post-mortem examination was inconclusive, but police are not linking the death of the woman, in her 20s and believed to be local, with that of Mr Craig.
