VILLAGERS across Hambleton are queuing up to create Christmas recycling points.
Thirty-eight communities have already agreed to set up compounds to collect Christmas trees and many more expected to sign up before the New Year.
Under the district council scheme, parish councils are asked to set aside a small area of land to take the trees for two weeks from December 31.
The trees are chipped and composted and a mobile shredder will tour the villages from January 15. The sites are then cleared by district council workers.
So far, there are sites at car parks, fields, village halls, pubs, recycling centres and a garden centre.
Anyone wishing to set up a temporary recycling station in their area is asked to contact Michelle Saunders on 01609-767305.
Sites are to be set up at: Aldwark, Alne, Bedale, Borrowby, Brompton, Brandsby, Burneston, Catton, Coxwold, Crathorne, Danby Wiske, Easingwold, Farlington, Great Ayton, Great Thirkleby, Huby, Husthwaite, Ingleby Arnecliffe/Cross, Kirkby-in-Cleveland, Leeming Bar, Nether Silton, Newby, Newton-on-Ouse, Northallerton, Potto, Raskelf, Sowerby, Stokesley, Sutton-on-the-Forest, Swainby, Thirsk, Tholthorpe, Tollerton, Thornton-le-Moor, Thornton-le-Beans, Topcliffe, West Rounton and West Tanfield.
