ANTIQUES experts will be on hand at an event to give people the chance to have their favourite objects valued.

Hosted by Addisons Auctioneers, the valuation day will be held at the Croft Hotel, in Croft-on-Tees, near Darlington, on November 4.

Experts in antiques, jewellery and fine art will give free valuations for contemporary or antique objects, including ceramics, silver, glass, pictures and sculptures.

Visitors will also be given the opportunity to put their item into auction at Addison’s Barnard Castle base.

Among the experts at the event will be Richard Edwards, previously of Sotheby’s in New York and now senior auctioneer and valuer at Addisons, fine art expert Henrietta Graham and Susan Rumfitt, who has appeared on the Antiques Roadshow as a jewellery expert.

Mr Edwards said the company had decided to expand out of Barnard Castle due to the popularity of previous valuation events in the town.

He added: “So many people own objects that they are curious about and these events are a terrific way for them to find out what something is worth, whether or not they wish to go on to sell it.

“Even after many years in the business, I can still be surprised by what turns up – and owners can be quite astonished by some of the valuations for items that they’ve been wearing or walking past for years.”

The event is open between 10am and 4pm on Monday, November 4.

Valuations on the day are by appointment only - call Addisons on 01833-690545 or email marella@addisons-auctioneers.co.uk to arrange a time.
