A RECYCLING roadshow visited Bishop Auckland yesterday to urge people not to throw out the extra waste they produce this Christmas.
Durham County Council staff in seasonal outfits were at Asda to hand out ice scrapers, memo boards and trolley tokens to remind shoppers not to bin all their waste.
Instead, they were encouraging people to recycle, and to educate them on how to dispose of their waste.
People produce a third more rubbish at Christmas - and most of it can be recycled.
Recycling officers encouraged children to put out recycling boxes, and gave adults Recycle at Christmas bags designed for wine bottles. There was also a draw for a set of family pantomime tickets.
The roadshow will visit the Asda store in Spennymoor on Tuesday, from 11am to 3pm.
