A reasonably priced McGuigan wine this week with a clear, light, golden colour and a bouquet of tropical fruit.
On the palate there's a buttery texture to the guava and mango fruit. It's a medium to full-bodied wine of 13% alcohol which will keep for another year. It will go with pat starters strong fish or chicken.
The Macguigan family have been making wine for generations. This company started in 1991 and now have the second biggest vineyard holding in the country.
Last year they harvested 225,000 tonnes of grapes, they have five state of the art wineries from Hunter Valley to the Barrossa. This gold range was created to celebrate winning "Australian wine company of the year". This bottle is £5.99 in Sainsbury, who also sell the premium Gold at £7.99.
