PRIMARY school pupils have become fans of ballroom dancing after having two months of lessons.
More than 60 year three and four pupils at Lanchester EP Primary School, near Stanley, have been learning dances such as the tango and waltz.
The seven, eight and nine-year-olds have enjoyed the lessons so much the school is thinking of organising even more of them.
The lessons were given by school cook Anne Malpass, who is a ballroom enthusiast.
She volunteered her up her time to lead the children through the steps.
Headteacher Jane Davis said: "As part of the PE curriculum, we normally do country dancing, but because of the success of Strictly Come Dancing, and the expertise of our cook, we decided to teach them the tango and waltz.
"They absolutely loved it, and getting them to dance boy and girl was not a problem.
"It is the sheer enjoyment of the children that fascinated me. You can even see children teaching steps to other children in the playgroup."
