SINGER Joe McElderry is performing a gig in north Durham next year.
The X Factor and Pop Star to Opera Star winner, from South Shields, is playing the Empire Theatre in Consett on Friday, May 30.
The show forms part of his new Set Your Soul Alive tour.
The 22-year-old rose to fame when he won the sixth series of the ITV show The X Factor in 2009.
His first single ‘The Climb’ reached number one in the UK and Irish singles chart and was followed by the release of his debut album titled ‘Wide Awake’.
In 2011, he won the second series of ITV’s Pop Star to Opera Star in 2011.
A spokesman for the Empire Theatre said: “The show will see Joe and his band performing songs from a variety of genres including rock, pop and classical. “Having sold in excess of two million records worldwide, tickets for his performance in Consett are expected to sell fast.”
Tickets are available for £19.50 and £18.50 for concessions.
