A BURGLAR broke into a house while its owner was asleep and stole more than £3,000 of property.
The thief entered the house in Tweed Road, Spennymoor, on Monday night and made off with items including an extensive collection of 12-inch vinyl dance records.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place between 7pm and 8.30pm, or anyone with information to get in touch.
PC Andrew Wilson, of Spennymoor police, said the burglar entered the house through an unlocked door and urged householders to keep property secure, particularly during the hours of darkness and when high values items are inside.
Anyone with any information on the burglary can contact PC Wilson or PC Mark Rodgers, at Spennymoor police station, on 0845-6060365
