A TEAM of Darlington veterinary staff made a 25-mile charity trek across some of England’s highest peaks to raise money for a national guide dog charity.

The group of veterinary surgeons, nurses and receptionist from Vets4Pets, in Grange Road, Darlington, completed the grueling Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise vital funds for Guide Dogs, which provides mobility dogs for people who are blind and partially sighted.

The team, which included surgeons Rob Reid and Natasha Sangherra, nurses Chantel Brocklebank and Heather Irving, receptionist Jen Mitchell and their four-legged companion, Finlay, completed the grueling challenge under their 12 hour target, in 11 hours and 40 minutes.

The challenge takes in Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough and climbs a total of more than 5,000ft.

Ms Brocklebank said: “A fantastic day was had by all, it was tough and by far the most I have ever walked myself. Whilse our energy was beginning to lag it was only spurred on by Finlay who must have walked twice what we had during the day.”
