CONSULTATION is underway to move a Post Office in north Durham.
If the plan goes ahead South Moor Post Office will move from its current location to create a open plan branch with significantly longer opening hours.
The proposed new location for the branch is the Nisa Store on Park Road, 200 metres along from its current site on Park Road.
The Post Office is now inviting customers to give their comments on the proposed move in a six-week public consultation.
New opening hours at the proposed new location would be 7am-10pm Monday to Sunday, double the current level of service.
Post Office regional network manager Suzanne Richardson said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents and we are confident that this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
The consultation will close on November 14.
