TWO friends have completed a 100-mile pilgrimage from Holy Island to see the Lindisfarne Gospels in Durham.
Sheridan Voysey and DJ Konz saw the Gospels in Durham’s Palace Green Library today (Monday, September 23), following an eight-day trek.
The pair embarked upon the pilgrimage to challenge themselves, explore faith and follow in St Cuthbert’s footsteps.
They were also investigating the possibility of the route becoming a recognised pilgrimage in future.
The friends visited Bamburgh, Craster, Amble, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Whitley Bay, Jarrow and Sunderland before reaching Durham, walking through weather ranging from heavy rain to bright sunshine.
Mr Voysey said: “It’s an exceptional thing to do.
“We saw such amazing scenery and fell in love with the North – its people and their friendliness. We experienced such hospitality along the way.”
On seeing the Gospels, he said: “It was overwhelming.”
