POLICE and fire fighters are dealing with a chemical spillage on Stainton Way, near Middlesbrough.
The incident was reported at midday, and several roads are closed, including the road between Hemlington and Stainton Village.
Other roads in the area such as Aviemore Road and Low Lane onto Stainton Way have also been closed and a 200metre cordon is in place.
No residents have yet been evacuated.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "Police and Fire Brigade are on scene managing the situation and there are no reports of any injuries or ill effects to anyone at this stage.
"Local residents are being advised to stay indoors and follow any updates via local radio and social media, including the Cleveland Police Facebook page and Twitter feed."
