MORE than 60 MG cars are expected to take part in a classic car rally this weekend.
The Prince Bishops Run - an annual event for the MG Car Club - will follow a 96 mile route between Stokesley, North Yorkshire, before finally arriving at Durham Cathedral.
The cars are due to set off from the car park at Stokesley show field between 9am and 10am on Sunday June 9 and will take in the Cleveland Hills, North Yorkshire Moors before arriving in Durham at about 2.30pm.
The oldest cars, some of which date back to the early 1900's, will depart first to travel the route taken by the medieval Prince Bishops on their journey from York to Durham.
Howards resteraunt in Stokesley has been chosen as the briefing point for the second year running thanks to owner Graham Howard’s passion for cars and support of various motoring clubs - and its reputation for serving award-winning breakfasts.
Mr Howard said: “Watching all the stunning cars descend on Stokesley is magnificent. It creates such a superb atmosphere early on a Sunday morning.
“I’ve always been an avid car enthusiast and I’ll do anything I can to help car clubs wanting to use Stokesley and our convenient location on College Square as part of their tours.”
