A GLOBETROTTING grandmother is celebrating her 100th birthday today.
Great-grandmother of six, Elizabeth Rogerson, otherwise known as Betty, is enjoying a century’s worth of memories with her friends and family today at her home in Consett.
Pat Scott, care home manager at Greenways Court said: "It has been a delight to have Betty living at Greenways Court and we have all been looking forward to this party for a while.
"Betty is well loved at Greenways Court and she takes all of the new residents under her wing and helps them to settle into our family".
Born on June 5, 1913, Betty grew up in the Byker area of Newcastle and lived in Tottenham and Blakelaw before choosing to reside at Delves Lane to be closer to her daughter, Cynthia.
Betty was happily married to her first late husband Bob, who passed away six months before their silver wedding anniversary. She later spent another 25 years with her second late husband, John.
Betty enjoys holidaying abroad and continued to travel to America until she was 92, visiting Karen, her youngest granddaughter who lives in California, and joined her as she celebrated her landmark birthday.
