A PROVISIONAL trial date has been agreed for the case of a man accused of assisting a friend to set himself on fire.
Stephen Walker, 30, remains critically ill suffering 90 - 95-per cent burns in Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary after being found engulfed in flames in the front garden of his home in Walker Drive, Bishop Auckland, on Sunday May 26.
Kevin James Howe, 19, of Cheesmond Avenue, Bishop Auckland, appeared at Durham Crown Court accused of assisting another man to commit arson with intent to endanger life.
He was bailed to an undisclosed address out of the area to return for a plea hearing on August 22, with the trial provisionally set to start at the court on September 9.
