THE homes of two Sunderland footballers were burgled and thousands of pounds worth of goods, plus four cars, were taken, while they were on holiday following the end of the Premier League season last month.
Northumbria Police have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of carrying out the break-in at the home of Stephane Sessegnon, in Ponteland, Northumberland. The man remains in police custody pending further inquiries. A Range Rover taken from the home was later recovered.
Inquiries are said to be “ongoing” into a, so far unrelated burglary at the home of defender Phil Bardsley, in East Rainton, near Houghton-le-Spring, from where two vehicles were also taken.
