POLICE have launched a summer drink driving campaign. Durham and Cleveland Police warned that drinking the night before can leave drivers unfit to drive the next day. As part of a joint campaign the police officers will conduct random stop checks of vehicles and breath test drivers through June. Leaflets will also be handed out. June is the second-worst month of the year for drink driving accidents, after December. In 2012 there were 159 casualties resulting from drink-related road traffic collisions in the Durham and Cleveland areas, including four deaths.
HALF MAN: Comedy folk-rock band Half Man Half Biscuit, once described by DJ Andy Kershaw as; “the most authentic British folk band since The Clash” will play in the region this weekend.
