A STAR-studded celebration to mark Sir Bobby Robson’s 80th birthday is being made available to a wider audience.
Tickets for February’s celebration night at The Sage Gateshead sold out within hours, but now a DVD of the evening has been released which will raise money for Sit Bobby’s cancer charity.
Friends, family and celebrities from the world of entertainment and football raised £80,000 for charity on the night that the County Durham-born football legend would have turned 80.
Another Knight To Remember includes highlights from the event including Sir Bobby’s ‘Desert Island Discs’ along with interviews with the likes of Paul Gascoigne, Bob Moncur and Lady Elsie.
Lady Elsie said: "We thoroughly enjoyed the celebration of Bob’s birthday. It was a wonderful night and we were surrounded by friends and well-wishers. Bob would have been in his element."
The team behind this DVD, Brian and Helen Mawson, Geoff Wonfor and Ray Laidlaw, also produced the popular A Knight to Remember DVD in 2009, which has raised more than £100,000 for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
Hosted by Jim Rosenthal and former Lindisfarne singer Billy Mitchell, the event featured musicians Mark Knopfler and Joe McElderry, comedians Paul Whitehouse and Alistair McGowan and football stars including Stuart Pearce, Andre Villas-Boas, Alan Pardew, Shola Ameobi and Steve Harper.
Faryl Smith, who sang a stunning duet of Barcelona with Russell Watson, helped launch the DVD today (Tuesday, June 4).
She said: "It was a massive honour to be asked to join in the celebration for Sir Bobby and to help out with both charities.
"We’re a football mad family and I played for many years in a girls’ football team, so being involved was very rewarding."
* Another Knight to Remember is available in Windows, Newcastle, MetroCentre and Darlington priced at £16.99.
