POLICE are appealing for the driver of a car involved in a road accident in County Durham last week to come forward.
The vehicle, described as a “new looking white car” with an NU prefix on the registration plate, pulled in suddenly after overtaking a light green Ford Fiesta on the A177 heading towards the A689 roundabout near Sedgefield at about 8.15am on Friday, May 31.
The manoeuvre caused the Fiesta driver, a 38-year-old woman from Bishop Auckland, to serve to the left before coming to rest on the grass verge.
The driver of the white car continued on towards the A689.
PC Samantha Stevens, of Cleveland and Durham special operations unit, said: “It is possible that the driver of the white car involved in this collision is unaware of what happened after they had overtaken the Ford Fiesta.
“We are asking for the driver to come forward so that we can fully establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
Anyone with information that might assist with enquiries is asked to contact Durham police on the non-emergency number 101.
