POLICE are investigating after a woman was punched and spat on as she stood in a taxi queue in the early hours of the morning.
The 34-year-old was queuing with another woman at the rank in Rougier Street, York, at about 1.15am on Sunday when two men and a woman pushed in front of them.
When she challenged them one of the men spat at her and then hit her in the face, causing minor injuries which did not need treatment.
PC Gareth Vaughn, said: “This is a shocking and disgusting incident. Thankfully, the victim did not suffer serious injuries, the outcome could have been far worse and left her shocked.”
