A TEAM of police officers swapped their batons for putters to tackle 72 holes of golf for charity.
Detective Constables Michael Fraser, Craig Robson and Paul Spackman, together with Detective Sergeant Hayley Burton, of Northumbria Police, took on the day-long challenge at Bishop Auckland Golf Club today (Monday, June 3), in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The group of friends walked about 20 miles in about 16 hours as they completed four rounds of golf.
They all know someone who has been affected by cancer so they decided to do the Longest Day Golf Challenge which is an appeal by the national charity.
“It has been hard work but it’s all for charity,” said DC Fraser. “We all play golf and work together so we thought why not.
“We have to give massive thanks to Bishop Auckland Golf Club for allowing us to play for free.”
The group are hoping to raise between £800 and £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
