Councillor attends: County councillor Eddie Tomlinson attended the recent Police and Communities Together meeting in Howden-Le-wear on Wednesday, May 29. Mr Tomlinson, who thanked everyone who had voted for him in the recent elections, emphasised: "I do not have a magic wand, but I won't forget Howden-le-Wear, and will help in any way that I can with problem issues." PCSO Rebecca Carey representing the police said: "May was a quiet month as regards crime but there were 41 police patrols which resulted in seven youths being stopped with alcohol and five youths were referred to the 4Real Alcohol service. There will be a Community Alcohol Awareness session in Howden-le-Wear Primary School at 2pm on Monday June 24. Everyone is welcome to attend this event and everyone who attends will be entered into a Free Prize Draw to win £25 worth of vouchers." The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday June 26 at 6.30pm in Howden-le-Wear Community Centre.
St. Cuthberts The St. Cuthberts Centre on Church Hill in Crook continue with their Film Club this Wednesday June 5 with the showing of Les Miserables. Admission is by donation while tea and biscuits will be served at 1.30pm. On Wednesday evening at 7pm there is a Mass of Thanksgiving in the Church for Sister Lucy for all her work in Crook. This will be followed by a Faith Supper and donations of food need to be brought to the St. Cuthberts Centre between 5-6pm. This Friday June 7, the Paul Edis sextet, who have just recently played at The Sage in Gateshead, will perform in the St. Cuthberts Centre. Admission is £5 with a licensed bar and light refreshments.
