A NEW charity group has been established to support North-East families affected by road accidents.
Road Peace North East will also campaign for better road safety in the region.
The group is a new branch of the national Road Peace charity.
Chair David Robinson, a solicitor, said: “I feel very privileged to be taking on the role.
“During my career as a solicitor I have seen first-hand the effect road collisions are having on our community, be that the impact of serious injuries inflicted on individuals or the unimaginable anguish caused by fatal collisions.”
One of the group’s campaigns will be for haulage companies to develop driver training policies which minimise the risk to pedestrians and cyclists.
