A GROUP is preparing to tackle the national Three Peaks Challenge for charity.
The 23-strong team, which includes members of Emmanuel Church Durham, the church’s football team and other friends and relatives, will attempt to climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.
The effort is in aid of Durham Foodbank, which provides emergency food parcels to families and individuals in need across the county.
The challenge will begin at the foot of Ben Nevis at 5pm on Friday, June 14. The walkers will then climb Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
One of the organisers is Mark Tallentire, a reporter with The Northern Echo.
