A TEAM of police officers are preparing to cycle the coast-to-coast route to raise funds for a blood cancer charity.
Ten officers from the Consett neighbourhood policing team, along with three colleagues from other departments in the police station, will undertake the 140 mile journey from Whitehaven to Tynemouth.
PCSO Michael Craine, who is unable to cycle for medical reasons and will be part of a support team, said: “The Consett YMCA have kindly given us the loan of their mini-bus, so we decided to support their dedictated charity – Bright Red – in return.
“There will be ten people cycling and three people in support - stopping to supply the others with refreshments every 15 miles.”
The team will set off on Monday and are expected to arrive at their destination by Wednesday.
Anyone who would like to contribute to their cause can make a donation at Consett Police Station’s front office.
