AN accountant accused of swindling more than £180,000 from the personal accounts of dead care home residents has appeared in court.
Steven Mason faces two charges of committing fraud by abusing his position as Group Internal Auditor at Four Seasons Health Care, which runs nursing homes throughout the British Isles.
The 36-year-old of Seaview in Easington, County Durham, did not enter a plea at Teesside Magistrates’ Court in Middlesbrough today (THURS) and no evidence was heard. He will make his next appearance there on Thursday, June 6.
He is charged with fraudulently obtaining £80,942.32 from September 24, 2010, to August 31, 2011, and £102,843.39 from September 30, 2011 to April 24, 2012.
