COUNTY Durham residents are being reminded that tips will close early tomorrow (Friday, May 31) to allow a new operator to take over.
HW Martin Waste is taking over running Durham County Council’s household waste recycling centres from Premier Waste Management.
The facilities will close at noon tomorrow and reopen at 9am on Saturday (June 1).
Those affected are: Annfield Plain, Potterhouse Lane near Durham, Tudhoe, Seaham, Heighington Lane in Newton Aycliffe, Romanway in Bishop Auckland, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Hett Hills near Chester-le-Street, Stainton Grove near Barnard Castle, Thornley, Coxhoe and Horden.
Broomsdene near Consett and Cragwood near Evenwood will close permanently to cut costs.
Todhills near Willington will close until further notice, due to land ownership issues.
