A MAN is due to appear in court charged with a number of metal thefts in Darlington.
The 20-year-old man from Darlington has been charged with several offences in relation to the theft of lead in the Cockerton area of the town.
He was granted bail and will appear at South Durham Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 6.
Detective Constable Phil Collingwood said the arrest was made using intelligence given to Darlington police by members of the public.
He said: “We want to thank all the members of the public who passed on information to us because, as a result, we were able to arrest and charge this man.”
Residents are asked to remain vigilant and to continue reporting any suspicious activity to Darlington police using the non-emergency number, 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
