A NEW body could be set up bringing together seven North-East councils.
The LA7 Leadership Board, which includes Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North and South Tyneside, Sunderland and Northumberland councils, is looking at creating a new statutory body.
Leaders say it would champion the region more effectively and efficiently.
The proposal is now out to public consultation until Tuesday, June 11. It can be viewed on all the councils’ websites.
