SUNDERLAND band, The Futureheads, are returning home to Wearside this summer as support for American rock giants Bon Jovi at the Stadium of Light on June 13.

The four-piece band previously graced the Stadium of Light pitch in May 2005 and again last summer when they supported the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The band’s top 20 single ‘Beginning of the Twist’ is played before every home game as Sunderland’s players walk out onto the pitch.

Futureheads guitarist and staunch Sunderland fan, Ross Millard, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be supporting Bon Jovi at the Stadium of Light. The stadium is now firmly established as a major music venue and to playing there again, in front of a passionate North East audience, is a huge honour for us as a band.”

SAFC commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “It’s great that The Futureheads will once again be performing at the Stadium of Light. They are one of the region’s most popular bands and were fantastic when they performed here last year.

“The band are great friends of the football club and have a real connection with us, which I’m sure will make their performance here at the Stadium of Light all the more special for everyone.”
