A WOMAN suffered leg and hip injuries after falling from a cliff on the North-East coast earlier this morning.
The 38-year-old, from Peterlee, County Durham, had been out walking when she fell almost ten feet, landing on rocks near the sea at Beckett’s Bank, in Horden.
Emergency services were called at 5.50am and mounted a two-hour rescue operation.
Hartlepool Coastguard and two crews from Peterlee Fire Station along with Durham Constabulary helped move the woman safely.
Inspector Andy Reeves said: “It was perilous because of where she was at the time.
“Once we got her moved she was fine, but she is probably going to be in a bit of pain for a while.
“It was a case of getting her away from the water.”
The woman was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.
Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
