AN elderly woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a Bank Holiday pile-up on one of North Yorkshire’s main routes.
Four vehicles were involved in the smash on the A64 at Ganton, near Scarborough, at about 1.15pm today, May 27.
Diversions were in place on the road, which did not re-open until 8pm.
The injured woman was tended at the scene by a doctor and paramedic from the Great North Air Ambulance and was airlifted to hospital in Middlesbrough, where her condition was described as critical.
