AN award-winning production by the National Theatre is coming to the county town of North Yorkshire - thanks to some high-technology.
The five-time Olivier Award-winning production of The Audience, starring Helen Mirren as the Queen, will be streamed live to Northallerton Forum via satellite on June 13.
It will be the Forum’s first satellite-streamed performance since the necessary equipment was installed there earlier this year with the support of Hambleton District Council.
And more shows will follow - as the Forum is now signed up to National Theatre Live, which streams highlights of its theatre programme from London to venues across the country.
“We are really keen for anyone who is interested to give NT Live a try – it’s such a fantastic initiative,” said the Forum’s general manager, Robbie Swale.
“I think the thing that struck me when I went for the first time is that the quality of the filming is so high – it really does feel like you’re at the theatre, or maybe even that you’re watching a film.”
The Audience was written by Peter Morgan, who also penned the critically-acclaimed film The Queen, and again stars Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II.
The Forum is offering a special introductory price of £10 and tickets are available from box office on 01609-776230 and from their website - forumnorthallerton.org.uk
