A MOTHER from the North-East has helped organise a fund raising event for research into Cystic Fibrosis.
Rachel Thompson's three-year-old son, Jack, suffers from the disease, a genetic condition which causes his lungs to fill up with mucus. He requires daily physiotherapy and drugs.
It was after watching an episode of television programme Peter Andre: My Life, in which the singer met up with a young CF sufferer, that Mrs Thompson, 30, from Ushaw Moor, near Durham, decided to join forces with business woman, Tina Hamilton to organise a fund raising ball.
She said: “We are so close to a cure for this terrible disease.
“So the more money that can be raised, the sooner that will happen.”
The Diamond Rose Ball will be held at Durham’s Radisson Blu Hotel on Saturday, July 20 and includes a drinks reception with stilt walkers and fire breathers, two course dinner with wine, live entertainment, a fashion show and mock casino.
Funds raised with go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust but will be spent in the region.
Tickets are £30 each and can be purchased by contacting Mrs Thompson on 07415-557-556.
