TWO more victims of historic alleged child abuse at a North-East school have contacted the police.
The men, aged in their 60s, have told officers they were abused by a former headmaster at The Chorister School at Durham Cathedral.
They spoke to Durham Police after reading newspaper reports about an ex- pupil who says he was systematically abused.
The man accused Canon John Grove, headmaster from 1957 to 1978, of abusing him in his private quarters and a school bathroom.
The new claims also name the alleged abuser as Canon Grove, who died in 2001.
Police are refusing to give details but confirm the alleged attacks occurred “in the early to mid-60s”.
The Very Rev Michael Sadgrove, Dean of Durham, has said the church will always apologise for past systems that let down the vulnerable and offer support to anyone whose life has been affected.
Ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair and actor Rowan Atkinson attended the school from 1961 to 1966.
There is no suggestion either man was abused during their time there.
