A schoolgirl was injured after a woman passenger in a car threw a firecracker at her.
The 13-year-old had just got off the number 12 bus at the top end of Cass House Road, Hemlington, near Middlesbrough, at about 4pm on Friday (May 24) when the incident happened.
After crossing the road to wait for a friend, a silver car went past.
The passenger, a white woman with burgundy-red long hair, threw what was described as a fire cracker out of the car.
It landed a few feet away from the girl and exploded, causing fragments to hit her eye and cause minor injury.
She received hospital treatment and has since been discharged.
The car, being followed by a white van, was possibly driven by a white man. Afterwards it drove down Cass House Road, towards Hemlington Hall Road roundabout.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information is asked to contact the Hemlington Neighbourhood Police team on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 87283.
