TWO teenage cousins teed off for a round of golf with a pair of their football heroes.
Adam Lee-Shield and Matthew Charlton played 18 holes with Darlington FC players Joe Tait and Gary Brown on Sunday (May 26).
The pair had wanted to take part in a Quakers fundraising golf day last week, but were unable to because they were at school.
So the big-hearted Quakers stars offered to give them a game at Barnard Castle Golf Club.
Matthew, from Staindrop, said he and his cousin got on well with the two footballers, but admitted that his golf performance was only ‘average’.
The four got on so well, however, that 15-year-old Matthew, who volunteers in the club shop and missed just one game in Quakers’ Northern League championship-winning campaign, is hoping for a rematch one day.
