STALL holders are being sought for a town’s 85th carnival – although there will be no traditional street parade due to health and safety regulations and the cost of closing a road.
The 85th Crook Carnival will be held on Saturday, July 13, from 11am to 3.30pm at Crook Town Football Club.
The carnival has previously been preceded by a procession through the town, but organisers said the tradition has been shelved as the necessary road closures were too expensive and there are several health and safety issues.
Attractions will include a variety of activities such as face painting, a bouncy castle and a fancy dress competition with a circus theme.
Surestart will be running arts and crafts sessions and there will also be cupcake decorating sponsored by the Co-op, a penalty shoot out, dance mats and micro-chipping for dogs.
Entry to the carnival will cost £1, and at 8.30pm Glam rock band Sleeze Sisters will be performing in The Hut at the ground.
Organisers are appealing for more stall holders to come forward to take part in the day.
