TRAFFIC on a busy dual carriageway was brought to a standstill when a caravan was blown into a lorry on the A19 just before noon today (Friday).
The accident resulted in debris being strewn across three lanes of the road and caused lengthy delays on the southbound carriageway near to Middlesbrough.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: “It appears the caravan has become unhitched from the vehicle towing it then hit a commercial vehicle which has smashed it to pieces.”
No one is believed to have been hurt in the accident.
The southbound carriageway was closed at the A174 Parkway junction for a short time.
The road was partially re-opened at around 1pm and traffic remained slow for a few hours while carriageway was cleared.
