A MAN has been charged with nine historic sexual offences against a girl under the age of 16.
Raymond Brown of Plantation View, Howden le Wear, Crook, is alleged to have committed four indecent assaults and four act of gross indecency with a girl under the age of 14 in County Durham between September 1978 and September 1982.
The 57-year-old also faces a charge of raping a girl under the age of 16 between January 1980 and December 1982.
He gave no indication of plea when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court today (Friday, May 24).
The case was committed to Durham Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on June 7.
Mr Brown was granted conditional bail.
