TWO charities are to share £26,000 raised during a civic leader’s term of office.
Coun Linda Marshall, outgoing chairman of Durham County Council, has closed fund raising for her chosen charities.
The money will be divided between Cardiac Risk in the Young, which will use it to buy a scanner for use in the North-east, and The Royal British Legion, which will help pay for training courses for the ex-service community through Finchale College.
Coun Marshall thanked all those who had generously donated and taken part in the many fundraising events during her time as chairman.
