HARTLEPOOL'S Graeme Storm limited the damage of an up-and-down round with a birdie on the last as he finished the opening day of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth with a one-over-par total of 73.
Storm, who was part of the first group that teed off at 7am, carded two birdies and two bogeys in his opening four holes.
A bogey at the eighth meant he reached the turn at one over, and while a birdie at the par-five 12th clawed him back to level, a double bogey six on the 15th was a major blow.
A birdie four on the last represented a fine way to finish, and Storm, who is the touring professional at Rockliffe Hall, will hope to produce another strong showing today to survive the cut.
The players are currently off the course after an early-afternoon thunderstorm forced a brief hiatus.
South African James Kingston is the clubhouse leader on six under, with Finland's Mikko Ilonen a shot further back after a 67.
