PUPILS at a Willington school have been showing off their area to visitors from European schools as part of a two-year cultural exchange.
Our Lady and St Thomas RCVA Primary School has spent three days hosting staff and children from schools in Bulgaria, Finland, France and Poland as part of the Comenius Project.
The aim of the two-year scheme is to learn about the different educational systems in the various countries and produce a book for each pupil as a reminder of their visits.
Madeleine Fulton, assistant headteacher at Our lady and St Thomas, said: “This is about children discovering the similarities and differences between them and other youngsters from across Europe, experiencing something new and gaining a global education that reaches beyond their home town and country.”
The visitors spent three days with the Willington school where they learned about the environment, visited the English seaside and experienced the school’s way of doing things.
Between four and six pupils from the Willington school will get to visit their new found partner schools over the next two years.
