TRAIN WORK: Rail enthusiasts building a full size replica of a G5 locomotive are to put their work on show to the public. The Rail Restoration North–East team will display the engine and engineer’s drawings at the open day on Saturday, June 1, between 10am and 2pm at Unit 8A, Hackworth Industrial Park, Shildon, DL4 1HF. CRAFT SESSION: Youngsters can make a decorated box at the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, during a half-term craft event. Sessions take place on Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31 between 10.30am and noon and 1pm and 2.30pm. Entry is free to adults and £3 per child. Booking is required on 01833-690606.
