A TOWN’S new mayor has made growing his council’s reputation a top priority starting with a move to a new office.
Greater Willington Town Council has taken up residence at 91 High Street in the town.
And new mayor Fraser Tinsley said it is an important move as the council aims to do more for the community.
Mayor Tinsley, a chartered town planner born and raised in the town, said: “The council started in 2007 and our aim now is to continue its good work, increase what it does for the town and address the challenges facing our community.”
The council had previously been based in Willington Community Action Centre and clerk Helen Cogdon welcomed the move.
She said: "We were very encouraged with the positive response we had from local businesses in helping us decide on a suitable premises.
“Our thanks are also extended to MC Builders who refurbished the office through donating time and materials in order to give something back to the community and support the Town Council who represent the area and its residents.”
Joe Buckham will serve as Mayor Tinsley’s deputy with the other councilors being Ken Henfrey, Joe Cogdon, Lilian Bennett, Arthur Graham, Mathew Todd. The Town Council will meet the first Wednesday in the month and can be contacted on 01388-417725.
